Terms of Service
These terms apply to all courier work carried out by Send Same Day, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. By booking a job you accept them.
1. Quotes and pricing
Online quotes are calculated from the vehicle needed for your load, the road distance between consecutive stops, the number of stops and the collection day and time. Quotes for Huddersfield and the immediate surrounding areas and beyond use the same per-mile rates. All prices are shown excluding VAT with VAT at 20% added to the total.
Quotes assume the details you give us are accurate. If the load, addresses, access or timings differ materially on the day, we will confirm a revised price with you before continuing.
2. Payment terms
Private and one-off customers pay 100% of the price online when the booking is confirmed — nothing is due on delivery and our drivers never handle payments. Approved business customers are invoiced instead: 7 days from the invoice date for new accounts and 14 days for established clients, with late payment interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate plus a £40 fixed fee per invoice under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. Invoices more than 7 days overdue automatically suspend new bookings until the balance is cleared. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.
3. Cancellations
By booking, you request that we begin the service immediately, and you agree we may charge for the vehicle and driver allocation reserved for you and any work already carried out. Cancel more than 24 hours before the scheduled collection and we refund your payment in full, less a £10 administration fee. Cancel less than 24 hours before collection and we retain 25% of the total price. Cancel within 2 hours of collection, or on a same-day booking, and we retain 50%. Once the driver has been dispatched or the item collected, the job is charged in full and no refund is due.
We may cancel or refuse a job where the goods are prohibited, unsafe, wrongly described, or where access or the law makes the delivery impossible. Where we cancel for reasons within our control, your payment is refunded in full.
4. Prohibited items
We do not carry, and reserve the right to refuse, any of these:
- Hazardous materials — flammable liquids, gases, corrosives, explosives, fireworks or asbestos
- Cash, bullion, negotiable documents, bank cards or gift cards
- Illegal goods of any kind, counterfeit items, drugs or weapons
- Dangerous, unstable or unsafely packaged items
- Live animals, human remains and anything needing temperature-controlled transport
- Unaccompanied high-value items unless agreed and declared in writing before collection
If prohibited goods are presented, we may refuse or abandon the job and no refund is due. You are responsible for anything we incur as a result.
5. Packaging and your obligations
You must package and label goods so they survive normal handling and transit, declare anything fragile, heavy or high value before collection, and make sure someone is available at both ends within the agreed window. Waiting time beyond a reasonable period may be charged.
6. Liability and insurance
We hold Public Liability, Goods In Transit and Hire & Reward insurance. Claims are settled up to the limits of our Goods In Transit policy — see our Insurance & Compliance page. High-value consignments must be declared in writing before collection so cover can be confirmed.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or delays caused by traffic, weather, breakdown, road closures or other events outside our control. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Loss or damage claims must be notified within 7 days of delivery (or the scheduled delivery date) with photographs and supporting evidence.
7. Proof of delivery and tracking
We capture photographic and signature proof of delivery where possible. It is available on your tracking page and is treated as evidence that the consignment was delivered.
8. Data protection
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
9. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions about them? Call 01484 706226, mobile 07469 760002, or email info@sendsameday.co.uk.
