How is the price worked out?

Price is based on distance between the collection and delivery postcodes, the size and weight of the load (we use the greater of actual or volumetric weight), the service level and the time of collection. The online calculator gives an instant guide price and we confirm the final figure when you book.

Is my delivery insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry goods in transit and public liability insurance on every job. If you're sending something high value or particularly fragile, let us know when booking so we can confirm cover and pack or secure it properly.

Question 3

What can you carry?

Accepted Answer

Parcels, documents, pallets, machinery and vehicle parts, retail stock, catering supplies, furniture and general freight. We can't carry hazardous goods, livestock, illegal items or anything requiring temperature-controlled transport.

How quickly can you collect?

Accepted Answer

For same-day jobs around Huddersfield and Kirklees we can usually collect within the hour. Further afield depends on where we are at the time — call us and we'll give you an honest collection window.

Question 5

What are your collection times?

We operate seven days a week, typically from 7am to 8pm, with earlier starts and later finishes available for urgent or contract work. Out-of-hours and weekend collections carry a small surcharge.

Do you deliver outside West Yorkshire?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we run UK-wide. Huddersfield, Kirklees and West Yorkshire are our home patch, but we regularly drive to Manchester, Leeds, the Midlands, London and Scotland.

Do you work with businesses and other couriers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We cover regular contract routes, overflow at peak times and subcontract work for warehouses and logistics companies, with agreed rates and monthly invoicing.

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Private and one-off customers pay 100% online by card when the booking is confirmed — there is nothing to pay on the day and our drivers never handle money. Business customers can apply for a credit account and be invoiced instead: 7-day terms to start, moving to 14 days for established clients.

What happens if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Cancel more than 24 hours before collection and you get a full refund, less a £10 admin fee. Cancel inside 24 hours and we retain 25%; inside 2 hours, or on a same-day booking, we retain 50%. Once the driver has been dispatched or the item collected, the job is charged in full. Cancel from your tracking page and the exact refund is shown before you confirm.

How is my price worked out?

Every job is a small base fee for the vehicle your load needs plus a competitive rate per road mile — from £5.00 + £1.10 a mile for documents in a car, up to £15.00 + £2.00 a mile for a Luton with a tail lift. Extra stops are £1.50 each. Fragile handling adds 10%, collections before 9am or after 5pm 15%, Saturdays 25% and Sundays or public holidays 50%. VAT at 20% is added to the total.

How do you choose the vehicle?

The calculator picks the smallest vehicle that fits both the weight and the length you enter — car, small van, midi van, SWB, MWB, LWB, XLWB or a Luton with a tail lift. You can override it if you'd prefer a bigger van. If the load is beyond our largest van, call us on 01484 706226 for a custom quote.

Are there items you won't carry?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can't carry hazardous materials, cash or bullion, illegal goods, weapons, dangerous or unsafely packaged items, live animals or anything needing temperature-controlled transport — and we reserve the right to refuse any item. The full list is on our Terms of Service page.

Do you price match other couriers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Send us a genuine written quote from another registered UK courier for the same job — same collection and delivery postcodes, same dates, same item size and weight — and we'll aim to match it, or beat it by up to 5% where we can. Email it to info@sendsameday.co.uk with "Price Match" in the subject line.

Do I need an account to book?

Accepted Answer

No. The quote calculator and checkout work as a guest — enter your postcodes, get a price and pay online in under two minutes. You only need an account if you want a business credit account or you're driving for us.

What's the cut-off time for same-day delivery?

Accepted Answer

Same-day collection is subject to availability. We take same-day bookings throughout the day whenever we have a vehicle free — call us and we'll tell you straight away whether we can cover it.

Which vehicle sizes can I choose?

Accepted Answer

Car for documents and small parcels, small van (car derived), midi van, SWB, MWB, LWB, XLWB and Luton with tail lift. Each option shows its maximum payload, pallet capacity and load length, so you can see instantly what fits — pick one in the quote calculator and the price updates straight away.

What are the special handling options?

Accepted Answer

Tick them in the calculator and they're priced automatically: fragile or glass handling (+10%), urgent collection within 2 hours (+30%), oversized items over 1.5m (+20%) and tail lift required (+£5). Weekend and out-of-hours premiums are applied automatically based on your chosen collection slot.

Question 18

Do you cover exhibitions, events and dedicated vehicle hire?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We deliver stands, samples and event kit to exhibition halls and venues with timed access slots, and we hire out a dedicated vehicle and driver by the day for multi-drop or on-site work. Both are quoted individually — call or email us with the details.

Can several people from my company book on one account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Business credit accounts can have multiple named users booking against the same account and credit limit, with every job billed to one monthly statement and full job history exportable to CSV.

Is the site and payment secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The whole site runs over encrypted SSL/TLS and card payments are processed by our PCI-compliant payment provider — we never see or store your card details.
